I am thrilled to share the various campaigns (exhibitions, talks, and standup comedy) I have worked on as a marketing coordinator with the Shelter team. These campaigns have achieved remarkable results and showcased Shelter's expertise in various domains.
THREADS, a collective exhibition curated by: Sahar Behairy.
Recreating Experiences is an act of Remembering
The exhibition retraces stories from one’s life, a snapshot of an instantaneous vision, and a piece of incomplete and unpublished narration, whose creator might revisit it in the future to assemble a more finished version, or simply leave it as it is. THREADS is a group exhibition featuring the works of ten artists, presenting a composition of various experiences from the artists' memoirs: a kind of evocation of individual and collective experiences that display self-symbolic elements that can trigger particular emotions within the viewers. The exhibition aims to stimulate and include the viewer, and for them to become part of the artwork itself. The trick is to make you feel like you’ve been there, right from the start.

Meet Katherine Behar with her talk "What’s Automation Between Friends?" on our next Shelter TALKS on Thursday 19th of January at 7:00 PM.
Katherine Behar is currently an artist in residence at "Out of The Circle", collaborating with Shelter Art Space in an interactive talk about her current projects and discussing in depth the meaning of automation and how it takes part in new media art.
"What’s Automation Between Friends?"
Would you ask a friend to do work you don’t want to do yourself? In automation, robots and other nonhuman devices perform labor that would otherwise have to be done by humans. This continues troubling histories of offloading unwanted work onto those considered less-than-human, including exploited people. Acknowledging these legacies, this lecture brings together examples of Behar’s artwork alongside episodes from media history and popular culture, all of which compel us to approach automation differently— as a matter of friendship.
We are familiar with popular media that portrays automation in extremes: either as liberating humans from work or as dooming humans to unemployment. But in real life, automation isn’t all or nothing. Since work processes are often only partially automated, automation mostly increases the extent to which people must collaborate with machines, learning to interact with robotic technology in more nuanced, intimate ways. For Behar, automation between friends takes place in a more-than-human community that includes the technologies in our midst. Her artworks find opportunities to cultivate caring more-than-human relationships, solidarities, and friendships shaped by automation’s weird intimacies.

An exciting and inspiring interactive talk with the intended audience about Art and Design and the Digital world in Art. Hani Mahfouz is one of Egypt's Prominent artists who has a unique style and thousands of stories about each of his different projects.
It will discuss some of the exhibited projects such as 365 Days of Abstract, From Nine to Five, Alexandria and Cairo, and his entire career in the design sector and production in the Creative Economy at large. Topics like The artist' struggle and yet opportunities within the art market, will also be explored.

About HANI MAHFOUZ:
B. 1965 in Alexandria, and graduated from The Faculty of Fine Arts - Alexandria University in 1988, Hani Mahfouz is one of a handful of artists seriously and repeatedly engaging with the daily life in Egypt and creating designs that use his unique visual elements to deepen our engagement with time and place. His ideas come from a wealth of different experiences; as a graphic, industrial, and lately fashion designer. Mahfouz founded his design studio, Hani Mahfouz Designs, AKA h|m|d, in 1997, and since then he has been dedicated to creating explicit art products that fall in between different design trajectories. To dive deeper into his world, we suggest starting from his talk at TEDx Cairo, "The Second Death", and taking it from there to explore that exceptional world.

A Place to Begin
A Place to Begin is an exhibition that showcases Mahdy’s vision through his journey to Humaithera. A place that affected his personal and artistic journey on all levels.
Mahdy says “ Humaithra is located 1,000 km south of Cairo. I first visited the place in 2016 for the first time and since then I have gone there every year despite the hardships and difficulties of the road. I believe there is something in this place that makes me feel loved and safe, there, I can listen to this inner call that warms us and surrounds us with light. An inner sound that merges with those sounds scattered around one, such as the prayers’ call, the voices of praise, people cheering, the sound of the Qur’an and the flute, and all of this is mixed with the sound of serenity.”

It's an invitation to open our hearts to God. It is a tribute to humility, and this invites us to draw closer to ourselves, and in this way, we take a step closer to God.

“Sky, Earth, and The Air”
“Today I saw the sea for the first time.
I heard its waves wrestling on its shore.
I breathed a sigh of relief as if for the first time I was tasting freedom.
I stood on the edge of the city looking at the broad horizon.
The buildings and alleys are more beautiful today.
And the closer you get to it, the more the color of its sky is beautiful.
My roots extend as far as the people of my city have reached.
Today, in the heart of the city, I found what I was searching for.
A light breeze of air on my cheek, weighted with the smell of crowding.
The noise of the city entangles with my thoughts and disturbs my dreams.
I find my solace in returning safely to that land.
I possess all that I wish for, here and on this land, in that city.”

In this exhibition, Shelter Art Space emphasizes the importance of the nature of the city and its ability to highly influence its members in general and its artists in particular, searching for serenity and tranquility, and their desire to return to nature or create their city narrative, in which they find answers to all the questions that they portray in their artworks.
We want to shed light on this experience through a series of different visual exhibitions; collectives and solos, and also through the many dialogues of discussions and events about the impact of the city on its inhabitants and what it leaves of an impression on each person.
Focusing on how to feel a sense of belonging and a sense of familiarity and genuineness.
